‘Depth of Field’ is a multi-layered novel that serves as a reflection on the support that writing can offer in the face of the trauma of memory and death. It is also a personal testimony about the collective experience of trauma and its consequences. The narrator travels through spaces of memory — from his father’s death to historical records of mass destruction — incorporating poetry, theatre, cinema, and political discourse.

The cover’s design features custom type that emphasises the concept of verticality, inspired by the original WTC towers (especially as pictured in the famous ‘Falling Man’ photo by Richard Drew) — a central motif throughout the book’s narrative, with which it also kicks off. In line with the broader theme, the typographic form is fragmented but also combined with a heavy texture which erodes its ‘fineness’.
