‘The Nightmare of Persephone’ was a contemporary art exhibition, in conjunction with a series of workshops, that took place on the island of Tinos in the summer of 2023. The project’s title refers to the song of the same name by Manos Hadjidakis and Nikos Gatsos, and at its core are issues of environmental crisis, environmental management, environmental justice, sustainability, individual and community environmental awareness. The feeling of increasing precariousness resulting from climate change, as well as the models of alternative living and consumption proposed by the artists, are elements upon which the visual identity was based — constructing a visual narrative with a stripped down, nearly confrontational character, both typographically and chromatically speaking.
