001 Topos I

Topos I, 2019
Art exhibition ephemera and catalogue design

‘Topos I’ was a contemporary art exhibition by Anastasis Stratakis, realised by Christina Tzekou in collaboration with Lindenau-Museum and Paul-Gustavus-Haus, in October 2019 in Altenburg. The exhibition presented a group of artworks that question the politics of images, oscillating between the notions of national and cultural identity, self-definition and hetero-definition, history, peripheralisation and otherness — preceded by ‘Could a Poem Bake Bread’, a public discussion with Christina Tzekou on the role of contemporary art and its relevance in the context of peripheral communities.

For the the promotion of these events, there was a visual communication system designed upon which all of the promotional material was based. Through the use of clean typography and bold simplicity, the emphasis was put on the content’s bare essentials while staying true to its equally direct and approachable character.
